I own a small Apple Reseller in the UK and our sales team use DayLite to log all activity and opportunities with great success. However, for it to be truly powerful (in my business) I would like to able to raise quotes (estimates) in Daylite BUT be able to easily run off a report that shows the profit in an estimate (and batch selected estimates) as our salesman are targeted on profit NOT turnover. It would also be fantastic if each estimate/quote could have a unique reference number for identification purposes.

I would be very interested to hear if this is possible now or being considered for future release/builds. I am willing to spend some money to get this in place, as it would save a considerable amount of time in terms of productivity and make my job of forecasting a lot easier!

Thank you

How would you yourself calculate profit? Just the total of an estimate?

Hi Oscar

When you import products or services into DayLite you have the following fields - Sale Price, Cost of Goods and Profit. It is the sum from the profit field that I am interested in. I hope this helps clarify my question.

Regards

Anyone? I take it from the silence that no-one knows how to do this? Please help - this seems like a very simple request that would aid a lot of DayLite users...

Hi Jermey

This sounds easy enough, but in order to better understand how to do this we need to see an example of what it might look like on paper. In other words, what does this report run on? One, many, or all opportunities? Or opportunities that match a certain category?

Will each opportunity get its own table listing all the estimates? Or does each estimate get shown in detail?

All of these specifics are necessary in order to provide information about how to obtain the results you're looking for. Otherwise, there are dozens of possible answers that might work. For instance, maybe you just want a single text field that just shows one number (the sum of all profits on all opportunities for which estimates were ever sent), or maybe a table that lists all estimates for opportunities that were 'passed to' the report, and at the end of each line shows the profit of the individual estimate, etc.

HTH,

Hi Adam

Thanks for the response. To clarify I would like this report to work on the same basis as a print report i.e works from the already selected opportunities - be it one or many as defined by a smartlist. I would then like to be able to see a TOTAL profit figure from each opportunity (but not each product or service) and a grand total of all the selected opportunities. I hope this helps a little....

Many thanks in advance

Hi Jeremy,

Did you ever get this issue resolved. I started using estimates last night and I thought the same thing. It should be very easy to calculate the profit per Opp. As easy as it is to calculate the estimate total. Really what we need is a estimate we send to the clients and an estimate for the users eyes only which show profit as well.

Is this just a change in the estimate template?

This would really help target the sales staff onto more profitable opps.

Yours

Hi Jeremy,

Could you clarify what the profit figure is that you're referring to? Is it just the sum of the estimates or is there a specific calculation you require to get the profit figure?
