I did a few quickie tests to see if Task duration would work in 3.1, but couldn't get it to show the Sum of Duration.

I am ready to admit the unscientific method of discovery I used, hoping that someone out there will show me how and what I did wrong - making Sum Duration available for me (and all of you as well smile

I was looking for the same thing. In the event you are still looking for this, here are the steps I took using 3.1.2:

1) Created a report showing individual activities and durations for the current week. When selecting the duration, select the "Duration (Seconds)" field - parent.reportData.object.durationSeconds
2) I don't know if this is a database problem on my end, but my results were actually minutes instead of seconds. I double clicked the duration field, Appended *60 to "Duration (seconds)" and checked "Evaluate entire text as mathem..." and selected a format.
3) Select the "Table" part from the outline view on the screen left, and "Table" under Info (screen right)
4) Checked "Has Summary Row", and selected the newly created summary row.
5) Selected the cell I wanted to contain the summary, and checked "Dynamic Text", and double clicked the cell.
6) Under fields, navigated to "Table -> Tasks -> Duration (seconds)" and double clicked.
7) Under Path:, I had "parent.parent.reportData.objects.durationSeconds". Insert "@sum" after objects so the path looks like "parent.parent.reportData.objects.@sum.durationSeconds". Again, I had to multiply by 60 and select a display format to convert the minutes to seconds.
8) Previewing the report shows me individual tasks and total duration for the week.

I think the duration (seconds) field is a recent addition. Hope this helps.

Could you possibly email me the template using your technique? The Report I'm making is Project based (not Tasks based), so that may be a part of my problems (which haven't been solved, even with your directions).

Is there anyone out there who has a working template with Tasks and Sum of Tasks that he'd/she'd like to share?

Thanks Patrick! That's going to be a huge help. As of yet I haven't really gotten into the report engine. However, now I'm at the point where I really need to get into some more complicated scripting...

Hi Patrick,

Again to be cheeky those reports that you mention would be very handy for me. I am afraid I haven't got into the reporting side of Daylite yet...

Kind regards

Wouldn't it be convenient if we could publish our templates somewhere around here? I'd be glad to share my template (which is now working fine, thanks to Patrick smile.

There are still things I haven't been able to do with the templates. And definately a few things I'd like but don't know about yet.

Browsing through other peoples templates would be a nice way to see what DayLite can do.

I'd like to add my name to the list of beggars :-) regarding the templates (marc@hudsondesign.ca). If anyone could email the two templates it would be much appreciated.

Happy New Year.
