I'm trying to generate a GTD summary.

There are tasks that are linked to projects and/or contacts, however, there are also tasks which are neither linked to any project nor to any contact. For the time being my workaround is to work with Groups rather than to create sub-tasks, which is fine as far as the written summary (report) is concerned, but it's not very practical when working in front of the computer.
