Daylite merges documents created in Word, Excel, and OmniGraffle. I do not use microsoft. Can Daylite merge with Apple's iWork Pages, Numbers or Keynote or AppleWorks?

Short answer: no. AJ posted a message back in June 2006 that said you can create a plugin to merge with Pages, but you have to know how to code to do any of it.

FWIW, he said you'd need to use the Merge Engine in the development kit. Use NSTask to uncompress the Pages content: index.xml.gz(Pages saves its documents in a compressed format--never knew that). Then use [ and ] as the parse delimiters. DL's standard delimiters, <$ and $>, don't work. You'll use merge keys like [contact.firstname] in a Pages template.

To merge, you copy the Pages template, uncompress the index.xml.gz file, do the merge with the merge engine, save the file and recompress the index.xml file.

At least that's how he explained it. Maybe an enterprising programmer on the board can write a short script to show us how.

DL really needs to address merging. It's a huge failing of this program.
