Hi,

I have amended the Billings/Rate to 15 minute increments but it doesn't show on the final invoice.
How do I show the time rounded up to the nearest 15mins on the invoice?
Thanks

Andy

Would like to see this too. Can I suggest that Billings round up when (1) a timed slip is punched out or, (2) if manually entering a slip, when the manual entry has been entered in.

Given that you can now enter time direct using decimals, I can easily work around (2) but (1) remains an issue.

For working slips, before you send out the invoice, right-click on the slip(s) and select Round Time; this will round the time up as defined in your preferences.

This WILL change the time permanently, meaning if you need the original value for a report, then you should not do this.

I have requested that the engineers consider putting in a key for displaying the rounded time in the invoice for a future update.

For now if you need the 'real' value, but need to display the rounded time on an invoice, you should customize the invoice to do so. A thread already discusses this at http://forums.marketcircle.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/4191056583/m/6671091144

I cannot get this rounding up to work as Sebastien outlines.

I have my prefs set to "Bill time in 6.0 minute increments". I select a slip or slips, control click to bring up the option to "Round time". When I select "Round time", nothing happens.

It would be most helpful if there was, say a preference, so that when a slip is punched out, it automatically rounds up to the chosen increment.

In the meantime, if anyone can suggest why I cannot even achieve rounding up manually at the monent, I would be happy to hear from them.

Thanks

The slip must still be active in order to be able to round it up.

You can either do this from the Timers window before you punch out, of from the slips window, making sure to de-select the checkbox at the left before rounding the time.

Thanks. That works. I had wondered what the ticked boxes were for. Can I make a comment or two though:
(1) To round up from the Timers window requires 4 manipulations (a) stop the timer (b) control click the stopped entry (c) select round up (4) punch out.

(2) In the slips window, I have to untick the slip(s) before I can round up. Is there a way of unticking multiple slips? At the moment, my only option is to manually check if rounding up is required on each slip, untick that slip then round up.

(3) It is not possible to round up slips in the slips window (which would have made it real easy to make sure all my old slips had been rounded up)

I have already suggested that it might be good to introduce an option to automatically round up slips. While I now have a workaround, it is not a hugely attractive one given the amount of manual ticking/clicking and room for human error.

Any chance of automatic round up being introduced? I am sure that I will not be alone in this as most professionals in my field would use a rounding up system.

Cheers

I have read the above and still cannot update my total amounts on slips having changed the increment time (to 30 minutes) in preferences. To be frank this seems too much hassle to work with. Another thing I would like to see in Billings is an option for billing on a daily rate, instead of hourly, which is what my type of work normally bases its contracts on.

This is not working for me either. I have set the increment value to 15 minutes but whenever I select the slip, right click, and select 'Round Up' (nothing has a 'tick'), nothing happens.

Can anyone guide me through this as it is an important feature for me and having to do it manually by hand would really suck.

You have to untick the slip on the left (little ticked box per slip) before right clicking and rounding up.

I must say though that while I have come back to look again at this software, it is things like this which prevent me putting down the cash. Rounding up should be easy (See Timelog, for example, which does it on the fly and even cumulates separate entries before rounding up). In Billings, it is a pain. And if you miss one (which is easy to do), it looks unprofessional.

If they corrected this and the confusion over date fields (on which I have previously posted), I would not hesitate to go with Billings over the competing products.

I don't see anything that is 'ticked', but it still doesn't work. Here, take a look at a screenshot of the tick boxes.

That all looks fine. Select all the slips now and have Billings round up (right click or from the Slips menu).

BTW, re dates in case you are interested:

I selected both slips, tried "Round Time" and nothing happened. The 'Quantity' field hasn't changed at all. I even tried with just one slip clicked on, but no luck. I've made sure that none of the tick boxes on the left are 'checked'.

Curious. I guess you have set the "minute increments" under General preferences to whatever number of minutes suits (I use 6 minute increments).

Otherwise, something strange is going on.
