Hi there,

I am new to billings and using a billing and estimating program. I have been freelancing for years, but always invoiced with custom InDesign templates using data merge with excel spreadsheets. Business is picking up and in billings I found software that does it all for me thumbsup

I need to create a custom invoice/estimating template design. I want to use the same layout I have created in InDesign (letterhead), however I am flexible when it comes to the dynamic text fields.

The second issue is, I normally email my invoices and print a copy for my records. I want to be able to email a fully designed invoice to my clients, but for internal use print only the essence of the invoice on a pre-printed letterhead design. In InDesign I used layers which I toggled on/off. Is there a simple way of doing something similar in Billings?

Any help as to how this can be achieved is appreciated.

Uli

Hello,

I'm not too sure I understand your first question.

Your second issue can be somewhat resolved. When creating an invoice template you will need to add another Master Page. Basically what needs to be done is have one invoice template with two template designs in it. When you print the invoice both your fully designed invoice and your internal version will be printed at the same time.

The only issue is printing the internal version on a letterhead. There are two choices:

1. Insert the letter graphic into the template and print it on blank paper

2. Preview it before creating the invoice. Count the number of pages that are used for the internal invoice and feed that exact amount to the printer first and then let the rest of the fully designed invoice print on blank paper.

I'll talk to my colleges about the ability to toggle layers. Maybe it can be a future enhancement.

If you would like to have your invoice design implemented into a Billings invoice template please check out this link. Click Here

Thanks!

Hi Oscar,

thanks for the reply. I have figured out part one. Works like a charme.

With regards to part two, I will try your suggestions. Thank you.

I have yet another question. I have clients who seem not to care that invoices are due in a certain time frame. Is there a way to add a late fee to invoices. e.g. Invoice of $10,000 is due on August 1, 2007. The client does not pay in time and the invoice becomes eligible for a 1.5% late fee on September 1, 2007. Is there a feature to add this to an existing invoice?

Thank you.

Uli
