As with many it appears I am trying to work around the date-report issues with Billings. I have created a project (the month) for a client and then have created a working slip for the various sub-clients that I work on for this client in the month.
For each of these sub-clients the log is used to detail the work done on the particular client on a particular date. When I use the detailed time and flat activity report it gives me, for each sub-client, the time spent together with the detailed comment as found on the log. This works perfectly. One problem: I want to report the date for each log entry and not the slip-start date. What is the field name that I need to put into report generator to bring up this date and where can I find it from the right hand fields box? Alternatively if someone could simply give me the label and path that would be a start. Thanks in advance. |

Hello ccaspell,
The following thread has the steps required to insert a list of log entries for each slip. Click Here! |

Hi Oscar,
Thank you for your response. I looked at that post for some time before I posted this request here as I came to the conclusion that it was not what I wanted. Firstly it amends an invoice and not a report. Perhaps they work in a similar way? Using the detailed timed and flat activity report as a basis, why can I not simply double click on the Details box which edits the dynamic text. In this box are the fields "Time Entry Date" and "Time Entry Comment". The comment passes the comments from the log correctly and the "Time Entry Date" passes the slip-start date. The path to the Time Entry Date label is: enclosingTableRow.data.object.createDate . Surely I should be able to change that path so that it looks something like enclosingTableRow.data.object.logDate or something like that where the line picks up the log date variable from the database and displays it. I hope that I am being a little clearer now as to exactly what I want to do and that link that you suggest is in no way clear enough to allow me to pull this very specific record. Thanks again. Yes, it depends on the structure of the report you have created or are editing. This does clear up what process you should take.
Change "createDate" to "startDateTime". Another way to find this token/path is to look at the right side when editing the dynamic text field. There's a field column that allows you to trace the path and pick the appropriate token ti display the information you need. To get the time log start time you would select: Data Row -> TimeEntry -> Time Entry Start Date & Time |

Thanks Oscar - that worked a treat.
One last thing, if I may ask, is there a way to ensure that the items are in ascending date order? At the moment I have to sort the slips on the face of the program first before preparing the report. Thanks so much for all your help so far. You are a star! |
