Hi there! I've created my first bespoke Invoice template in Billings and I'm happy with it. I wanted to base a new estimate template on it, but the estimate 'based on' drop down won't offer me the option, although there only seems to be one templates folder in Billing Application Support. Am I trying to do an impossible thing?
Thanks for any tips.

I had the same problem a while ago, id created an invoice template and wanted to use it as the basis for my estimate. At present there's no way to copy between documents so I did the following so you can't even create a new blank document and then copy and paste from another one. I did find a solution though:

Creating an 'estimate' from an 'invoice' template...
1. Using the finder duplicate your invoice template file and rename it
2. Control + click on the new file and from the contextual menu and select 'view package contents'
3. Select the file which is called 'Info.plist' - open it with textedit
4. On opening the file change the info on the 11th line down from 'Invoice' to 'Estimate'
5. Save the file
6. Open the template in billings in the right hand side open the 'data' drop down list, choose 'Object' from the list change it from Invoice to Estimate

The new template is now available as an Estimate, you might have to edit some of the data paths (if they previously related to getting data for invoice rather than estimate) but I found that most were fine - you'll see what i mean if you do a test with it.

Hope this helps
;-)

note: I think that the reason you have to 'pick' either estimate or invoice at the start is because they work with slightly different data, id be interested to know if anyone else has encountered this and what they did about it.

I too have the same problem. I noticed while editing either an invoice or estimate there is a location field but it is not editable. I'm glad you suggested opening the package contents. It makes sense and I will try that and report back on how it worked.
