I see that a timeslip can consist of a series of timer log entries. How do I access the comment field for each timer log entry? I'd like to have these comments be printed in my invoice.

Stephen,

You can access the log entry for each of the Time Entries by going into the Log... sheet from the Working Slip edit card. Just click on the Log... button and select the time entry you would like to create a comment for.

Also, the keys for the time entries and their comments are avaiable in the report designer.

I understand how to put a comment into an log, Eric. What I was trying to determine is how to reference these comments in a report or invoice. In essence,

for each log in a time slip
slip.comment := slip comment + log(i).comment + ';'
end for

Then, I can print the accumulated comments as one comment per time slip.

What you could do is drop a table in the column, set the data source to be the time entries of slip slip being displayed in that table's row. Then in the header within the column, put any info like Slip name, etc. and in the data row, display the comment for the time entry.

Why couldn't this be done with a script?

See my prior comment for pseudocode of what I would like to do.

I am a new Billings user creating a simple invoice for my small consulting activity. I need to supply a log comment for each log entry. I can't see any way to add the comment field for each slip log entry. The only choices I see for the slip log are average, sum, etc. Nothing referencing the log comment for each entry. I can't find any documentation on the web site with the application's meta data. Any pointers would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Eric,

I'd like to do this, but I can't seem to drop the table in the right place. It always lands in the middle of the row and sits over the time/qty and taxes columns. It'd be great if you could do a video illustrating the correct way to do this.

Thanks

Jon
