Just got the latest build from iTunes. I cannot get billings touch to sync. The iphone sees the mac, I can enter the passcode to pair but then nothing happens. I've tried deleting the iPone and pairing it again. I've also tried removing billings touch from the iPhone, re-downloading billings touch and re-installing on the iPone still no successful syncing. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Same trouble here. I can enter in the serial number and then I can see the iPhone disappear in the window behind the number sheet. At least Billings Touch doesn't crash immediate when starting a timer! It's a start.

Hi,

I have to say that sadly I'm in the same boat. Been using Billings & Billings Touch for a while now, but since I've upgraded to iOS 4 I can't seem to sync Billings with Billings Touch anymore. Somehow the sync dialog appears very briefly on my iPhone but disappears and I'm unable to sync.

Not really wanting to erase the app from the phone, since it contains all the timings I've done for my projects this month, but I really need to get my invoices out.

Any suggestions ?

Regards,

Stefaan

OK good news I got it working. Here's how to do it.
First remove billings tough from the iphone
Go into your apps in iTunes and remove Billings touch. You need to remove it unchecking it won't work.
Go back to the iTunes store download Billings Touch
Go into your apps and make sure Billings Touch is checked
Sync your iPhone
This is important do not re-establish your syncing license just re-pair. Start billings touch on the iPhone then start Billings on your computer goto touch preferences and press the pair button
At this point it should sync
After your first sync goto setting in Billings Touch purchase and hit the re-license button.
Now reboot your iPhone and you should be good to go.

I was able to create projects and slips in Billings Touch and have them sync after I re-booted the iPhone.

Good Luck this took a while for me to get going, hopefully it will fix your issues but please do this at your own risk just because it worked for me doesn't mean it'll work for you. Make sure you know where your data is and it's backed up!!

One more thing I've got an iPhone 4 which of course is running IOS 4. don't know if this will solve any 3gs issues.

Further testing of this I have found once I have successfully performed a sync it will not sync again until I reboot. For example I created a few projects in Billings Touch and I successfully sync to my desktop. I close out Billings on the desktop and close out Billings Touch. I go back into Billings Touch and create a few more items, I open Billings on the desktop, no sync. I re-boot the iPhone it syncs right up. I don't know what this means other than just sync once a day unless you re-boot your phone. That's what I would do most of the time anyway. I'm in the field all day entering my time into Billings Touch I go home sync with the mothership and I"m done for the day. In thinking about this it may have something to do with the multi-tasking aspect of IOS 4. It could be that Billings Touch really isn't closing on the iPhone so the initial sync is still the one Touch thinks is correct even though it's data has changed. I'm really talking through my arse now but who knows at least it works enough to get the data in and out.

We are looking into this.
This issue does not occur with our test units/setups.

Hi BT,
I was having the same issues as you and others and I can confirm that your solution does in fact work (if followed exactly). smile
However I have found a simpler solution to your followup about rebooting:
If you simply close billings touch and then double click the home button to reveal the last running apps, then hold down on billings touch you will get a red minus sign to "close" the app.
once you do this and re-launch it again it seems to sync as it used to under ios3 every time.

I also have not been able to sync since iOS 4. I'm using the latest update to billings and the latest version of OSX.

I actually can't even pair the devices. In the process of trying to resolve the issue I killed the pairing.

1. Start Billings on OSX
2. Start Billings on iPod Touch 2g with iOS 4
3. Go to pairing and select iPod
4. enter number
5. iPod disappears from the pairing list

Sometimes the iPod shows the sync screen but nothing ever happens no matter how long I leave it. Most times it doesn't show the sync screen.

I've tried both pairing off a clean install of Billings Touch and after I've start using Billings Touch (and picked to throw out the Touch DB).

I've also tried all variations on multiple networks with the same results.

@niestudio

Thanks Man! I kinda had a feeling it was about multitasking. Would have helped if I actually knew how to use the new features of IOS 4! I'm still used to the double clicking of the home button bringing up my favorites phone list. In any case syncing now works great after closing the app properly.

We've finally been able to reproduce the error - but not consistently.
It seems that for some reason, we are not able to get a socket. The OS won't give us one for some unknown reason.

We are digging...

@truck - none of our test units exhibited this issue. In fact we are still unable to reliably reproduce the problem - so it's hard to isolate the cause.

I can confirm this as well. It will resync the first time every time from after I have restarted the iPhone. Subsequent syncs to not work.

iOS 4 on a 32 GB 3GS.

Seems to be a problem on the phone side, not the Mac side.
