I run a small consulting firm and finally have some time (and motivation) to learn how to do some serious prospecting using Daylite and/or DayLite plus a supplemental tool to support me in the early bluesky phase of the prospecting. This is all before the first call.
One of the problems I have had when I have tried to use Daylite for this before is that in this first stage I might be looking at a few hundred companies, and that might actually lead to about 30 or 40 calls max. So I haven't found it practical to add organizations and opportunities for each of these companies until they start to demonstrate themselves as particularly interesting in one way or another. I have done this before, and I end up with 100's of organizations, opportunities and contacts in my database that I have never and likely will never contact. I want to be able to support rapid market research on a particular firm, classify them in how they may or may not be interesting and move on and then return to look more closely at those that prove worthy of that extra attention. And finally, I would want to do more research on those companies I am interested in contacting before I actually place the call. I was trying to work in a combination of Safari and Numbers today and getting frustrated and then actually thought about looking at Bento before it occurred to me that there is probably a function of Daylite that I have never looked at before. Anyone identify with this challenge? Anyone found a way to minimize the hassle? Thanks so much for reading this far and any help you might provide! |
