Just wondering if there are any other missionaries using Daylite. I'm new to it (and to Mac) and would love to get the most out of both. So, if your in Missions, sound off. Let me know what's working well for you when it comes to Daylite.

Oh yes, certainly. I was more just interested to see if there were any others in "my same shoes" using daylite. And you're right, I have recieved a GREAT amount of help by looking thru these forums, and seeing what others have written. Thanks.
I've been in missions for 26 years but now am pastoring a church and working with our local association of churches. The database needs are very similar. I use a web-based service (Church Community Builder) for the church itself since it includes financial management which DayLite does not. It would be nice to link to an accounting program for such needs. It would also be nice to link data from the web-based service (CCB) to the local network-based service (DayLite)so I don't need to enter data twice.
I don't have any administrative assistance so I see DayLite as filling that function to a great degree (still lacking a smile and greeting each morning).
I tried DayLite back on Guam and Micronesia about 4 years ago, but gave up since it was too complex to set up. Now I'm working at it again.
It's been a while since I posted my reply. The difficulty is in entering data for families or households. I can polish the relationships, but the organization window does not allow specific fields for husband, wife, son, daughter, uncle, etc. such as is common in churches. It would be nice if specific types of organizations would have their custom windows. Now I use organizations for households by using the last name as the first segment, the first name as the second segment, some differentiation (such as Jr.) for the third segment (if needed) and then the word "(household)" to specify. But it still is clumsy. Church Windows was a program we used in the past and it had a lot of good features, but it lacked network capability.
If Marketcircles allows development at this, I would be very interested.
Also, what about nested organizations like government agencies? We dealt with them many times on Guam and in Micronesia. It's difficult to locate the Budget and Planning Office of the Department of Education of the Government of Guam (three levels of nesting) and to differentiate from the Budget Section of District 10 of the Department of Education of the federal government; OR, the Federated States of Micronesia. And so forth....
