I am a new DL user in the Construction Industry. I am interested in learning tips & tricks specific to our industry, eg. categories, keywords, forms, etc.

I am in the construction industry and am currently using Daylite. I specifically chose Daylite because unlike most CRM's (which seemed more geared to sales) project are easy to manage and track through it (I would not use DL for complex project management, as I use other project software for that, however as far as CRM is related to projects it works well)

Billy,

What kind of categories, smartlists do you use?
Do you use pipelines?

Thanks.

Sorry for the delayed response. I am probably only using a small percentage of what categories and keywords are capable of. Right now my contacts are categorized according to the type of contact they are. I am not using keywords yet. I have developed several smart lists to help in searching and organizing. I would like to get more into the pipelines but I have not had the chance to develop one that suits my marketing program. I am very pleased with what Daylite has done for me so far and I am expanding this more and more as the time goes.

I am also working in the construction management industry and have a quick question - how compatible is Daylite with MasterBuilder? Would I be able to export from one into the other?
Thank you!

Sorry Sarah, I am not familiar with MasterBuilder. I performed an export from both Outlook and Now Contact without any problem. Daylite is great!

AJ,

I run a small door company and use daylite to track my projects. It's mostly service work and I use the following catagory's and have created some pipelines:
Catagory's I use include: order materials, pending materials, shop prep, schedule and perform,completed-bill it.,pending payment, payment received. I use smart lists and color codes to display all of my jobs based on stage.
I have 3 pipelines currently that I use, Quoted job (order, pending, schedule/perform, bill, billed, paid) Service call ( schedule/ perform, bill, billed, paid) Follow up call: (order material, pending, schedule/perform, bill, billed, paid)

It would be nice to link pipeline stages to catagory's so I don't have to change both manually everytime.

I own a floor contracting company and I've started playing around with the following stages for a Floor Install project pipeline:
- Estimate / Site Visit
- Setup
- Production
- Punch List

I'm trying to create sets of subtasks to drag and drop every time I create a new pipeline although still playing around with this. Planning on a very similar pipeline for refinishing just with different appointments and sets of sub-tasks.

I am in the erosion control business and am looking for some good ideas on how to actually use the 'projects'....

If I can't enter "costs" then to me it is not much use, although I use Opportunities to bid work and it works great.

You can actually make any number of categories. You edit them within preferences, and can choose which things they apply to.
