Hello All

I jumped on Daylite at I think 1.5 but have only used it in a limited way for a variety of reasons. I have accumulated a lot of junk in keywords groups categories etc. I have also about 3000 contacts. I am after some advice on the easiest road ahead. I would like to use a film industry template as a basis for my work. Its not perfect but is a starting point. So do I export all contacts in the existing DB to vCards and reimport them to the new DB (loosing the multiple links relationships and so on) Or do I delete and clean out my existing DB of erroneous methods of work and enter the categories pipelines activity sets, opportunities as so on in their place. Thoughts ideas blind spots?

It's kind of up to you. If you have a lot of linking and relationships, you'd almost have to update the database rather than exporting it, or you'd lose a lot of hard work.

Regards,

Howard

Let me expand Sebastian's question a bit.....if I upgrade my DB to the industry template by exporting the Contacts, what happens to the email history/linkages?

Hello,

Just thought I'd offer my two cents. As Howard has mentioned, exporting all your data and importing into the Film template would be hard work. It's much less beneficial then simply studying the film template and applying the things that matter to your database.

Maybe this will help. I've taken all the customizations in the preferences for the Film template and simply typed them out. Now you can open up your Daylite database preferences and go to town on them.

Ultimately the workflow document that supports this database template is the real 'nut'. I know I've said it before in other posts, but the true value comes from the workflow.
