I am trying out Daylite and hope to have it replace my current calendar/contact program.
In a sales environment, I am having some trouble making the adjustment in workflow. I typically schedule appointments and tasks (to-dos). Notes are also used. Typically, I will assign a task to a client - "Call John." When the day comes, I make the call. Let's say he is out and I leave a VM. I resassign the task to a new day and attach a note to the client "VM left." In other programs, there is typically a "contact card" that lists all the activity. As a task comes up on my calendar, I click the link to the client and can see all activity - I know when i last tried to call, last time we spoke, what was discussed, etc. Daylite can do much (maybe all) of this. What has me stuck is the workflow. I am in calendar mode. I see my task "Call John." Link info is shown at the bottom of the task list. So far, so good. I also need the client history so I can see all links, prior phone calls, notes, etc. Is there an easy way to "open the contact card"? As far as I can tell, the only option is to go to a contact or organization screen and look up the appropriate entry. This will provide most of the data at the bottom of the screen. Using the "activity tab" at the bottom, I can then see dates with the notes, providing a "call log" history. Is there a better way to do this? |

You can simply Option-click on the contact link while viewing the task detail.

Sometimes, in the case where I leave a message and want to try again on another day, I change the due date of the task and add something like this to the task details:
July 02, 2007 NA LM (means no answer, left message) I don't usually find it useful to create a new note just for that. When I view the task list I can see that in the details pane on the bottom. Regards, Howard |
