I would like to be able to track the number of referrals received from referral allies and clients and report monthly on the total referrals received from all allies and clients. For example in January Jack 2, Mary 3, total 5 for January.
I can enter/update those totals as referrals are received into a contact's extra field named "Received," and can print a custom report showing whatever number I have updated for that field. However, I can't get a total for my report for all allies and clients, or get monthly totals. Resetting totals back to zero at year-end will be a hassle using the contact fields. I'm sure there must be a better way than using contact extra fields. I have figured out how to use pipelines and activity sets, but it doesn't seem like I should use those. |

Rodger - great idea! I'm looking for the same type of report as well. I've been using the "linking features - referred by" for linking client referrals but I have no way of utilizing this information. Our business model strongly relies on referrals and it would be interesting to generate a high level overview of this type of information.
Thanks! |

Typically referrals are tracked using a relationship link. In the Daylite preferences you will find an icon for Roles & Relationships. Switch to the relationship tab and create a referral link (it might already be in there as part of the defaults). Then to establish a relationship link simply drag a contact onto another contact and define the relationship.
I'm trying to think of how you would track the number of referrals a client has given you throughout the year. If the referral link stores some kind of date in the database, it's possible that it can be referenced by the report engine to produce the desired results. Let me see if the date field is being stored and if this is actually possible to track. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Amin Rahmani, |

Ok that was fast!
Apparently, in a custom report engine, you can ask for the "createDate" of a relationship link in the Daylite database. That means that if you are creating these links between your contacts, the date of each referral link is being stored in the database and you can query that. The other good thing is that you can simply keep creating these links without having to worry about going back into the extra fields and deleting things. This sounds like a pretty customized report that would require calculations after the data is fetched. I think that one of Marketcircle's Report Certified Partners can create this report for a reasonable fee. http://www.marketcircle.com/community/partners.html This message has been edited.
