Hello Each,

I've researched other CRM's and productivity workflows for some time now, and am sure Daylite - even with its steep learning curve - is the one.

I've watched some of the tutorials now, and a couple of my clients use it to great effect.

I am mainly shooting in fashion/commercial - and have checked the photography template out here, and it is not really of much use to me and the business at the moment.

I am taking on a sales person soon - mainly targeting hair salons and design agencies. And would like to build a clear, updateable workflow of how to contact people, and the results. I know this can be done in Daylite - so my questions are:

are there any other photographers who are on this forum using Daylite for their commercial studio (rather than wedding/portraiture)?

Have you been able to set up forms (?) to record success of certain sales ideas - and can these results be printed out as visuals - e.g. graphs?

What were some good learning tools (certain movies or guides) for complete technophobes at learning software?

And finally - a little point - how do you automate your address book to read by surname as in Apple's own address book? And my organisations, upon import, are completely out of alphabetical order - how can this be sorted?

Sorry, not a photographer so I can only address last point.

At the moment, in DL you can only sort by last name if you are in list view in contacts pane, I believe. Easiest way is to add last name and first name columns to list view by clicking on right arrow at right of screen in that window, selecting from inactive and dragging to active. You will also want to move the "name" category from active to inactive. Click close, then drag your columns into the order you want in the window.

Re: organizations, I haven't experienced that problem...at least importing by VCard or syncing to my Daylite Group in AB. Daylite automatically orders mine by alpha after import. Anyone else weigh in on this?

Hi JRP,

That's great! With a combination what you wrote and a response from Sean Mendonca - I am now sorted with the address book!

Much appreciated!

Just letting everyone who isn't aware, we have a database template for Photographers.

You can find out more about it here. Oh ya, it's free smile
