Using a standard invoice template is it possible to combine several projects into a single invoice?
I couldn't see a way to do this and there was no reference in the help manual. |

Hi there. I just recently started using the application. I also have several clients I do several projects for.
What I've decided to do after a little testing is to generate the individual project invoices and then in another project called "Combined Billing" create a flat-rate slip per invoice with the total from that project's invoice. Then I'd generate the "Combined Billing" project invoice with the grand total and send all of the invoices to the client, with the combined billing on top. I'm thinking about designing a new invoice form for the combined billing invoice from a template, but just adding a blank text area or line to the right of each item where the client can indicate payment allocation. For applying payments, I'll probably just save a copy of the combined PDF to my archives and then delete the invoice out of Billings, then apply payments against the actual projects in question (instead of applying the total payment to combined as well as the splits to the projects, which would throw off the reports.) I think it'll be a workable solution. Hope this helps. BTW, anyone else have any ideas, I'd love to hear what other people are doing in this regard. This message has been edited. Hi,
I just found Billings a few days ago and I'm still evaluating it. I too would like to create one invoice for a customer no matter how many projects I did for him. Regards |

Hello.
Has there been any more developments on this issue? I have tried out a great deal of billing aps and I'm loving this one the most!... BUT I MUST have the ability to bill multiple projects. Is there a "feature request" somewhere? or has any clever coders hacked this ? Thanx. |

If you do a search for "multiple projects" you'll see that this has been requested for at least a year and been on MarketCircle's 'radar' for around 6 months. I now use a different application, which invoices for multiple projects so can't check but isn't there a feature request from within Billings itself? I'm sure I saw it once. |

COOL. well I hope they get to it in the next update.
So App are you using now? are there other things that you like better besides multi project billing? I am especially impressed with the Billings invoice designer. I have not seen anything top their invoice customization with-in the application. but any way. let me know what app you use. I want to check it out. thanks. (PS what kind of biz are you in? I'm in Graphic Design) |

We are working on it - the change is a big one (goes down to a early and fundamental decision we made).
We decided not to hack it in and do it right (along with some other major requests). Sorry I don't have a timeline. |

I'm using OfficeTime. It of course lacks some of the extra features of Billings but makes up for that in other areas. Better for you to trial it yourself than for me to spam the board ;O) I'm a Mac artworker but formerly a graphic designer so multiple project billing, reporting hours for multiple projects across time frames are particularly essential. |

This would really be an improvement for me. I always have clients that I need to bill several projects at once, and they would get annoyed with me if I was sending multiple invoices for them. The workaround that Michael describes up above is doable but is more extra steps than I am willing to do on a continuous basis.

And another one - all my clients are (and will be) ones where I do multiple projects for them, but bill all outstanding time monthly. Looking forward to seeing it in the next version :-)

As a confirmed Daylite user, I really want to use Billings with it and move away from the flakines of iBiz. But having just paid for the software and making a start with it, I'm totally shocked to realise that you can't invoice multiple projects without a truly awful workaround. I'd dabbled with the demo version, and didn't notice this omission as I wasn't looking for it – I just assumed it would be a standard feature in an app called "Billings" and just handed over the cash! Like so many in my business (and I'm sure many other businesses too) i MUST be able to bill specified multiple projects, for a specified timefame eg "all the work done for Client X in April" on ONE invoice. This is a breeze in iBiz and I'm stunned it's not offered in Billings. I see from another post that it's in development, but c'mon guys, this is a MUST HAVE for many of us. My money is spent, but I can't use the software until it can do this basic function...

This is unbelievable. I looked at Billings last year but couldn't use it without multiple project billings. There have been several updates since then and this feature has still not been implemented?
Add me to the list of people who need to bill some of my clients once a month for multiple projects. Without this basic functionality I won't be buying Billings. Andrew |

I'm curious what you find flaky about iBiz? I've had a quick look at it and it seems pretty good. Do you still prefer Billings in spite of the fact that it can't invoice for multiple projects? I've also been looking at iRatchet and was wondering if anyone had any experience with it. I bill mostly at fixed rates as opposed to hourly, and it seems to work quite well for this. So far I like it a lot. Thanks, Andrew |

I've been using iBiz for years, and in many ways it's great for my purposes. It's quick and easy to use for timing jobs, doing monthly reports and keeping track of invoices. However I have 2 main reasons to move to Billings:
1) I'm a confirmed Daylite user and want to share data between the apps. 2) iBiz's invoicing templates leave me cold. They are HTML-based, and with no HTML skills I'm left to use the dreadful supplied ones or user-generated ones which are little better. Also there is a bug in the earnings reports that has rendered recent builds unusable – for me at least. I would still recommend iBiz though, if you want a simple, quick time billing system, need multiple project billing and regular reports (use v 3.1.9), but don't need to send the actual invoices it generates. (I generate them only for tracking purposes – my actual invoices are generated for monthly report data). I did try the Demo of iRatchet ages ago and gave up on it in favour of keeping iBiz. Sorry I can't remember why... Mark |

And no, I can't even use Billings at all without a straightforward multiple-specified-projects-on-one-invoice function.
I'm eagerly awaiting a new build with this, and will then jump ship for the reasons above. Mark |
