I think there is a problem with the creation of a new template, when you want to start with a blank page.
I clicked on the "Design -> New Estimate..." menu item, then I selected to put the future template into "Estimate", and then I let the selected case on "start with a blank template", and still, after selecting the paper size, I've a template preformated like the swiss template.

I had the same problem. My workaround was to click on Design-> New Estimate, select "start with a blank template", select paper size, and then once the swiss template came up, delete all the elements on the template and save as Blank Estimate. Then when you create an invoice, you select "use an existing layout..." and select Blank. A pain, yes, but you only have to do it once (or twice if you want a blank invoice template, too). If anyone has found the "right" way to do this or at least a better way, let us know.
