I'm currently evaluating the beta of Billings as I decide whether or not I wish to switch from iBiz, and I have an odd issue. Under 'Normal Rate' and anything relating to currency, I can't seem to get rid of the "CanCan$" that Billings seems to be throwing in there. It doesn't double it up on an invoice, but I'd prefer not to have "Can" in there at all, since virtually all of my clients are based in Canada and know that I bill in Canadian Dollars
I also have a suggestion for the Client List. It would be nice to have the option to reverse the organization and client name, so that the organization is in large print with the client/contact's name in smaller print below, like this: Big Big Company Inc. Jimmy Bob, General Manager |

Hi there
First, thanks for your suggestion. As for the CanCan$, this is an unusual issue that we haven't seen before. Can you tell me in detail what the settings on your computer are in the International pane of System Preferences (choose Apple Menu > System Preferences, and click on International)? I'll check with the engineering team on this as well. Cheers, adam |

Hi Adam,
It occurred to me earlier this morning that it could be because of the 'Currency' setting under the International Pane, so I did some playing with that to see what would happen. As it turns out, the complication came because I had region set to 'United States,' but currency set to Canadian dollars. If I changed the currency setting there to US Dollars rather than Canadian Dollars, then Billings didn't add 'CanCan $' to everything. I prefer the U.S.-format calendars and use inches for the graphic design work that I do, and so always choose U.S. keyboard setting when installing the OS or setting up a new machine -- that seems to be the cause here. It seems like the best solution for someone like me (barring Billings just using the currency setting you give it and ignoring the OS' settings altogether) is to set the computer to 'United States' as the region and make sure the currency is set to US Dollars (and force the patriotic Canadian in me weep as a result!). It's that or set-up a custom region. Christopher |
