For the moment, it seems the bug wherein the clients column forgot its width setting every time you quit the program has been fixed. Thank God for small miracles.
But now the exact same problem occurs with the column widths in the Projects pane when you quit the program or even simply select "All Clients". Will we have to wait until version 4 for this fix? |

Kris,
Billings does properly save your projects column widths. The problem here is that the project list for All Clients has an additional "Client" column compared to the project list for just single clients. The widths for these are saved separately, as well as which columns are shown/hidden in each list. (You can right-click on the column header to show and hide columns). If you are still having a problem, let us know and the problem will be addressed in an update soon. |

Sorry, but the problem is NOT fixed. Here are some videos where you see for yourself.
http://www.toprival.com/temp/Columns1.mov In this video, I am switching back and forth between the same two items, and the column widths keep reverting to what they were before I adjusted them. http://www.toprival.com/temp/Columns2.mov In this movie, I adjust the column widths, quit Billings, reopen Billings, and the columns have reverted back to their original widths. Hi Kris,
Thanks for the videos to help figure things out. Your cooperation is appreciated. It looks like the problem has to do with the very large size your Billings window is set at. The columns are auto sizing when you leave and come back to try to make use of the extra blank space to the right. Upon further inspection, Apple's Mail has the same behavior. If you make the main Mail window very large and resize all the columns very small, then switch to another mailbox and then back, it will do the same thing. You should find that Billings 3 does save your column size if you are using all the available space. Let me know if that is at least working for you. I am not sure how easy this would be to fix, given that we are using default Apple behavior here. Do you experience this problem at all with Mail? Showing more columns would solve the problem - it looks like you have the space anyway |
