Am I missing something here?

Why on earth, in the slips pane, can you not see the date on which a slip was generated (and therefore when a task was performed)?

Yes it's got "Date due" column, but not just "date" (a la iBiz).
Because of this there's just a whole list of undated slips under each project that I have no idea as to when they were done! (date due is much less important to me in this pane, but admittedly good to have as an optional column.
I've notice there seems to be a unused column in this pane. Is there some way to get that to display the actual date of a slip?

And yes, I could enter the date in the description field each time, but that's just clunky and time-wasting, as is using the date due field instead as a workaround. Also to have to open each slip and look at the log would be a nightmare.

Doesn't anyone else need to glance at their slips list to see when jobs were done?
maybe there's another easy way to do this, but I certainly don't want to get into running reports to get this basic information.

This seems like a really obvious need to me, but haven't seen it mentioned in the forum before...
Like I say: Am I missing something?

You are not missing anything here. There is currently no way to see the completed date in the list of slips.

I will add that as a feature request for future versions. Just as clarification, would you like to see both the date started and date completed in the list?

I appreciate the response Fraser.

I think that the most useful way is to have both date started and date completed (and date due I guess)as optional columns in a 'view preferences'.
However if that's not possible, just having date started is CRUCIAL in this pane.
This because slips usually relate to work done on only one day (or occasionally the next day too if done overnight), and therefore the start date is usually the same as the completed date anyway,

Please do push for this one... Billings is just too uninformative to use as it is...

I think whatever date is used on the invoice should be shown as a column. I realize there are many options for this, and that creates a ton of confusion... especially since we can't edit the "slip date" itself.

Preferences might be the only way to go if you want to give everyone all of the possible slip entered/started/completed dates... or else find a way to simplify it.

The date column seems like such an obvious necessity and has been requested several times before:

I'm glad in some ways that its not just me being stupid and unable to get the date a job was done to appear in the invoice.

This is a crucial piece of information for me too.

My workaround so far (I have only been testing the software for 3 days so far) is to write the date in the slip name, but this is clumsy, and if I have to do it this way, I might as well carry on making invoices using a word processor.
