Hi there

Just trying out Billings 2.5. It looks very nice but entering rates in the Blueprint dialog box is a little bit of a headache, as in pretty much impossible: 2 digit numbers are put behind the decimal point, so 30.00 will turn into 0.30. Looks like a bug to me...

I'm based in Switzerland, so international prefs is set to "Switzerland (German)" which gives a currency code of "SFr.".

For example, if I enter the following in the "Rate: field and tabbing out of it:
- "1" --> "SFr1.00"
- "10" --> "SFr0.10"
- "100" --> "SFr100.00"

If I directly click the "OK" button instead of tabbing out of it I get the following:
- "1" --> "SFr1.00"
- "10" --> "SFr.10.00"
- "100" --> "SFr100.00"

Apart from the number problem for 2 digit numbers the display of all formatted numbers is wrong. E.g. they should be displayed as "SFr. 1.00", "SFr. 10.00", "SFr. 100.00".

Where should I report this? I haven't seen a bugreport form anywhere.

Cheers,
-Andreas

This is a known bug in Apple's System software; please see the following link for details: Why does'nt Billings respect the currency format, alphabetic sorting, and date format that I have setup in my System Preferences?

Need help in Daylite or Billings? Check the Help menu for Apple Help documentation.

Hi there!

I live in Switzerland and have the same problem. In your link unfortunately you don't tell us what we can do about it... or is there nothing we can do?

Thanks for letting us know...

Kind regards

Unfortunately, no; the application is programmed as per the APIs of the Cocoa framework of the operating system; the bug is in the Cocoa framework, which means Apple needs to fix it.

Once Apple fixes this bug, this functionality in the application should work without needing to be updated.

I've actually found a work around.

To create slips:
    Open System Preferences > international
    Change the currency to Euro
    return to Billings
    create your blueprints with the original currency amounts (these will not be converted)
    once this is done go back to system preferences and change back to Swiss Franc

All the reports and invoices/estimates will be in Swiss Francs with the correct amount.

Until the bug is fixed... soon... we hope

Unfortunately there is nothing you can do. It's an Apple bug, and we have to wait to see if they will fix it in Leopard.

HTH,

Hi there

I'm suffering from the same problem as described by Danielle for almost a year now - and it's still occurring with Billings 2.5.6 on Mac OS X 10.5.4.

The workaround described by Danielle works and I'm using it all the time. I even created an Automator Script to change the System's default currency to Euro and vice versa when pressing a keyboard shortcut, but it's still annoying.

Do you have any news? Is it still a problem that only Apple can solve?

Thanks, Patman
