I really like Billings but there is one major thing that really brings it down. It has made me think about changing to another system.

This is the fact that I can't change entry date of Payments and Invoices to ones of my choice.

It would seem such a basic thing to have implemented. I know I can go put new dates in manually but this doesn't show on the Payments Records etc. This really means that the Reports are useless to me.

One example:

I have done an invoice for a job 6 months ago. So I want that invoice from that date. So I enter in an old date. Fine.

Then I go to Invoice Sent Report and I want to see all my invoice in the past 2 monthes for VAT purposes. Suddenly I see the invoice from 6 months ago coming up. This isn't good at all.

So any help on this or ways around it?

You can manually set the dates on invoices and payments, as I believe you've remarked, but the problem is that our reports are actually using the "Create Date" instead of the invoice date. That is an oversight on our part, and a holdover from an earlier release of Billings when we didn't allow the date of an invoice to be entered manually.

We'll go over our reports and match up the fields better so that reports will more accurately reflect what is expected. In this case, we're in a bit of a sticky spot because some people must backdate invoices but still see them on a report like "Invoices Sent." So we'll have to think about it... Your thoughts on this matter are valuable as well, so please chime in!

Thanks for getting back. I appreciate that this is a holder over from older times.

Would be great if I had a way of just getting Payments Reports and Invoice Reports to say Edited Date. I have been going through the templates but it can get confusing to try and edit the fields.

Is there anyway of posting up revised Report Templates based on these problems?
