Most CRM/PIM applications have a single note associated with a contact, with its contents being viewable at a glance along with a contact's basic info. Daylite3 is more flexible with multiple notes per contact, but as a result it loses this basic ergnonomic functionality.
I'd love a HUD widget that makes up for this by displaying the contents of the first note linked to a contact. This would functionally emulate the "note" feature of Outlook and its like. (Even better would be if the user would be able to edit the note right there in the window.) |

I was JUST looking for this EXACT functionality! So, for what it's worth, I'd like to second this request.

Does the "Sync Note" do the same thing?

I am interested in such a HUD too but instead of displaying the first note, I thought of displaying a note with a special title. So it doesn’t matter when you’ve created those note. (Let’s say the HUD displays the note with the title ”General” or ”Important”).

I'll take up this challenge…
Not sure (at this stage) whether I'll be able to make the HUD editable, but display shouldn't be a problem. Seems like the best idea is to key on a specific title; do we have any preference for that, other than Martin's suggestions. The only downside with doing that, is displaying the title in the HUD; there won't be any individuality in each Note. It doesn't look like you can do a trigger on a prefix in the title; it's an all-or-nothing match. An additional option (rather than a single Note) is to parse all of the Notes attached to the object, displaying each in turn if it has the ‘trigger’ title, newest at the top. Useful? Should be possible to include a link to jump straight to editing the note as well. |
