One problem that I have found is that there is no way to differentiate between a task that has not been completed and one that is Deferred or Cancelled (or any other status). So, if I decide to create a tasks and later decide that I want to cancel the task by changing the status to Cancelled, it will still appear the same as an uncompleted task in the Projects > Progress > Tasks window pane. By "appear the same" I mean that anything but a completed task will show up with an unchecked box next to the task title. Now, I suppose I could delete the task all together, but I like to keep a record of what tasks I previously assigned to the customer regardless of whether or not they are still active. But, I don't want to load up a customer's record and see 10 uncompleted tasks all with different statuses (e.g. Cancelled, Deferred, In Progress) that all appear to be exactly the same.
I'm not sure what would work out best for this but I have a couple of suggestions that MAY work. First of all, the checkbox could change to an icon or something that relates to what the status is (I understand this may be very hard to do). Second, there could be an additional column that would list the status of the task in the "Tasks" pane so you could tell the difference. Or finally, something could be done with colors to indicate the status. Either way, I just find this to be somewhat confusing since there are only two states to a checkbox (on and off) but there are 9 different statues. |
