All right all you Fscripters and Applescripters out there. Why hasn't anyone written a plug-in for auto-completeing the City/State/Country fields from an entered Postal Code? Come on guys. This should be a no-brainer for you geniuses and something that every Daylite user would be using.

Well one good reason for not doing it for UK addresses at least is the charges for accessing the postcode database, and its size on disk.

In the UK the Royal Mail hold the rights to this data, and charge about £1,800 per year for a single user licence; for a multi-user system say bye to £10,000+ per year.

Not sure about the US, but I imagine there are charges and file size issues there too.

Okay. How about a plug-in that remembers previous entries for the Postal Code and then auto-completeing the City/State/Country fields, if there is a match?

That might work and, I agree, would be useful. But I for one, don’t have the time to look at it right now. Sorry.
