Has anyone thought about creating a plugin or widget that could see if contacts were in LinkedIn?

That is an outstanding idea. Some of the desired functionality would be:

• Search for contact from DayLite to Linked In.
• Keep addresses up to date - similar to how Plaxo works with Address Book.
• Potentially add relationship links for people in DayLite from connections listed in Linked In.
• Some visible indicator that a DayLite contact has a Linked In entry.

After mentioning Plaxo, that is another one that can/should be considered.

I'd be a taker in terms of using it if such a thing became available. Unfortunately, my coding skills are far too basic to be a taker in terms of creating it.

Unfortunately there doesn't appear to be a public API for LinkedIn stuff, so accessing it from within a HUD isn't real probable at the moment.

I agree. Unfortunately, they have been very closed with both API's and communications. There are many possibilities with a service like Linked In and ways for them to increase their own revenue. For example, if accessing API-based services required a paid membership, then I would pay for myself and for my company. Combine Daylite, Linked In, and Hoover's and you are talking about a powerhouse business tool.

I have LinkedIn plugin on my Outlook on PC Windoze and it is more annoying than useful and also slows down Outlook startup by a minute sometimes.

What I would find more useful would be the ability to click on an accepted invitation linkedin request and having it automatically get into DayLite with the category of LinkedIn for example. (Right now I click on Download vCard and it goes into AddressBook and then into DL by Synch but I have to manually add categories to that contact in each program because I still do not see AddressBook categories mapping over into DayLite :-( ).
