Is there any software addon or plugin that will capture an address from an email, the web or a document and import that information into Daylite?

Such as Name, Address, City, State, Zip, Phone, Fax, Email, and Website.

How about capturing an contact/address/phone/fax/email/web from the web itself.

When prospecting on the web for new retailers using for example GOOGLE MAPS...I may want to add some of the addresses I have discovered. Instead of typing in each one...I would like to highlight and "pasted" or transfter into Daylite.

Something like this is definitely needed for Daylite! However, simply capturing info from Mail.app is too limited. We really need something like Address Grabber for Windows.

The same company also makes several other applications including List Grabber, which I used with Act before switching to Mac. It is absolutely amazing, and will allow you to quickly build large mailing lists from many different sources. I'm really missing these tools, and I really hope someone will create a similar application for Daylite very soon.

Exactly! I am a former ACT USER (10 years).

I used egrabber for the past 4 years.

It would be nice to have such a tool.

Holy Cow.... are you kidding???? I'm using Mac Pro Intel with Parallels so I can run XP and Mac OS simultaneously. As you'd expect Windows OS is unstable. So, I'm investigating going all Mac Apps to run the business and using XP for just a few necessities.

But... we transfer data from our webstore to Act to QuickBooks to FedEX several hundred times a day!

It's seems incredible that there's no Address Grabber type application for Mac.

This lack of quick form-data transfer will kill my appetite for Daylite as well as other Mac apps. Imagine the amount of duplicate key entry we'd suffer!

I sure hope Mac become business friendly in the near future.

I'm so tired of waiting for what I consider a very simple and absolutely essential tool, that I'm considering switching back to ACT! even it means running one cheap Windows computer to manage my contacts and mailing list. However, that is certainly a less than ideal solution that I would prefer to avoid.

I've looked everywhere for a Mac tool similar to Address Grabber, but I haven't found anything useful. The only thing remotely close that I've been able to find is something called Address Actions, but it hasn't been updated since 2006 and the developer's site refers to it as "experimental". So it doesn't look like it is very well supported.

Address Actions 0.2: "Select an address in an email, webpage or other text, then choose Address Actions from the Services menu to add the address to the Mac OS X Address Book or display a map."

The Leopard version of the Mac OS comes with something called Data Detectors that may do what you want.

AFAICT this will allow the addresses to be added to the Sync database (via Address Book) and from there into Daylite.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, Data Detectors is a function that only works in Mail, which I don't use. I really want something that would let me capture text from any email, web page or document the way Address Grabber does.

I spend a lot of time mining the web for potential clients and it's really important that I be able to quickly add contact info into my mailing list from a web site or from a contact form sent to my web mail account. If I have to type it all in manually it usually doesn't get done.

I just did a bit of research on Data Detectors to make sure I wasn't missing something, and was very surprised to read that these were originally part OS 8.5. Glad to see it only took them 10 years to reintroduce this feature! Unfortunately, it sounds like they have actually downgraded the functionality, because in OS 8.5 they were system-wide and you could customize your own data detection schemes. Now they only work in Mail and iChat. So disappointing!

I am still looking for software that can "grab" information (contact name, organization, street address, city, state, postal, phone numbers, email address, and web site) and import directly into Daylite.

Every other month I search the web for this.

I don't think it's the getting it into Daylite that is the problem, csv or xml web leads could do that.

If you think it's a tool you need, get together + find a developer.
