Hi I am evaluating a time tracking and billing application for my wife's law practice. I have read the marketing materials and downloaded the application and read the introduction provided. I have also looked at the help documentation I still have some outstanding questions that I would greatly appreciate assistance with.
First, I like Billings 2.51 a lot but am looking for some features that could help her with her practice that were not evident from the research that I have conducted thus far. Here they are: 1. Can you import (either automatically or manually) prior accounts receivable information to perform billing. 2. Does Billings allow you to manage unpaid amounts previously billed in the next billing cycle. 3. Can you apply automated payment rules to your billing cycle? For instance, a discount for paying within 10 days of receipt (I realize law firms cannot do this) and applying interest to amounts that are past due. 4. Can you design the invoices to have different styles based on where they are in the billing collection cycle (as well as the rules that were asked for in number 3? 5. If a credit card is applied for payment can you easily add a credit card processing fee either as a fixed amount or as a percentage? 6. Conversely, can you add a cash payment credit as a percentage to the bill when it is payed with cash? 7. Can you build an aged accounts receivable report with contact information? 8. Much like Quicken has many of the account categories built in to begin using Quicken easier, are there prefabbed Time Tickets/Slips by industry type (such as a legal firm) avalable to jump start use of the tool? 9. Can you create repeatable Time Tickets/Slips as a bundle for similar types of cases (projects). 10. Sometimes with a specific case, the attorney is paid by judgment by the opposing party. How would this be handled within Billings? 11. Are there any Case Management or Accounting packages that Billings can tie to or export/import to so that you can have single entry to your Billing and Accounts Receivable process or to your Case Management tools? 12. Can you link in a phone system as an input to the time tracking system? 13. I see in your Blog that you are playing wth the iPhone. Do you have plans to extend the time tracking module to the iPhone to track time while on the fly...in court, assisting a client when not in the office, track time to cases/projects for incoming and outgoing calls, etc. While I have never done the accounting for a business, these are a few ofthe items that I think would assist her with her revenue recognition cycle. Any aasistance in answering these questions would be greatly appreciated. Culvero |
