It doesn't look like it. There are two issues as I see it - the first is that none of the invoice templates provide any payment information, so you can't display an entry on the invoice that shows the payment(s), or to show a 30/60/90 day grid without going into the Report Editor and making your own invoice.
The second one is the biggest issue, though, and that is that it doesn't look like you can create an invoice without having at least one working slip, so even if you did create a custom invoice (assuming that can be done), you still couldn't print it without making a "dummy" slip.
This is a really fundamental thing that Billings should be able to do - hopefully the next release will address this.

Couldn't agree more. Daylite and Billings seem to lack some basic business functionality in several areas. A simple observation and question: Daylite, I'm sure, has scores of programmers since they've turned out a decent program that, in general, works very well. Do they have any small business experts on staff who are charged with thinking about these issues and making sure that at least the simple core components are in place? I know MC has beta testers and records feature suggestions, but what team spends time strategically assessing and aligning the product with small and mid-size business needs? I'm sorry, but I find it puzzling that some very basic features are missing in this relatively mature product. This is true both for Daylite and for Billings.

AJT,
What I would do for this is create a working slip for this payment, with the title being whatever you wanted to show up on the invoice, such as "remaining balance." Set the amount to 'flat' and put the balance in. Then, send the bill using this slip, which will have zero hours of work on it. (you could hide hours column)

EMD, the problem with that is that it would increase the balance by the amount that is outstanding; so if you still had a balance of $1000 that was overdue, and you sent an invoice in this way, the balance showing in Billings would be $2000.
You'd then have to delete the invoice you just created (which would fix the balance but wouldn't give you any record that you'd sent the client the invoice), or have to make a fake "credit" in order to restore the balance.
Either way is funky and a pain to manage, IMHO.

I have the same problem. I will have to drop the program if Billings fails to fix this issue quickly. I open an unpaid invoice in Adobe and add a sentence on the bottom in a black box indicated that the invoice is past due and requesting immediate payment. Creating a new slip for past due balances increases the amount owed and presents a real problem. I also have a problem sending a new invoice that will account for a partial payment and a smaller unpaid balance. Does anyone know if Billings is even working on these issues.
