Hello all,

I've been trying Billings out, and am struggling to make it work for me. My requirements are pretty typical, which makes me wonder whether I'm just missing the point somehow.

Here's what I want to do:

  • Create fixed-cost estimates, comprised of a number of distinct "lines" (design, coding, etc). Even though I'm quoting fixed-cost, it's based on my standard hourly rate, so I also need to record my time estimate for each line item.
  • Invoice the client for 50% up-front, once the estimate is accepted.
  • Track time against the original estimate line-items.
  • Invoice the client for a 40% instalment at the appropriate point of the project.
  • Invoice the client for the 10% balance at the end of the project.
  • Easily compare my initial time estimates with the actual time taken for the project as a whole, and the individual line items.

I've worked out (cumbersome) ways of doing some of this, but have run into a complete dead-end on others. Any pointers or advice (even if it's "Billings isn't for you") would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks,
Stephen

Does anyone from Marketcircle have something to say on this?

Like I said, even a message explaining that Billings can't do what I require would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Stephen
