I've created a logo using Inkscape. I cannot get it to render clearly on the invoice and I've tried (almost) everything. .png seems to work best, but it still looks kind of fuzzy when opened using Preview.app.
The Billings created text/color, using the invoice editor, are crystal clear and sharp, no fuzzy edges, but the text shown in the .png is fuzzy, that's I guess a better explanation. I am now thinking of creating the text portion of the logo in the Billings editor to get that crisp text, but my logo itself (two colored spheres) still looks fuzzy. Q: what is the best format to save graphics for invoice use? to avoid that fuzzy look? am I missing something here? Q: what are the units used in the invoice editor? I have the logo thing set at "90" by "62" but what are these units? Thanks, Mike |

The best type of graphic is vector - and of those, PDF is best. EPS works too, but it is slow to render.
Bitmaps should also work great - the issue could be resolution or scaling. The report editor uses pixels/points as a unit. To isolate the problem, create a new template and drag the image in. Once there, select the image and go to the "attributes" inspector. Tweak the scaling until you get the best result. You an also adjust the image size in the editor if that turns out to the a problem (you can create a new invoice using one our included templates and tweak it to your needs). If the scaling does not work, try saving the image at 72 or 300 DPI and give that a shot. |

Bingo. PDF is the answer, that looks great. The reason I never used pdf is that when I save then open it, it opens in Preview with a white background rather than transparent so I always thought there was something wrong with it so I never used it. My loss, now I see it renders in iWeb with a transparent b/g too, so that actually solves the same problem with my website.
EPS doesn't support layers (sorry if I'm using the terminology wrong)? I have a bubble effect logo (upper left, here: www.michaelpalermo.com) and Billings only seems to import the top layer (the black/gray effect layer) not the color layer underneath. Doesn't matter, now that PDF is working. As to tweaking scaling, been there done that, it works so-so, but now that PDF works I'm fine. Thanks AJ. |
