I'm a commercial artist and I have a recording studio. How can I add a second business to my profile inside of Billings 3?

Should I install the program on a second computer? My recording computer for instance?

Thanks,

Eddie

Billings doesn't officially support multiple identities, but there are two possible workarounds.

1) You can hardcode the different company identities in separate invoice templates.

2) You can use Billings in a different Mac OS X user account and use Fast User Switching between your two accounts.

Thanks AJ,

I think I'll just install Billings on my recording computer and put my studios info in that one.

I thought there might be an easy way of doing all my billing from one computer.

This other way is fine, since I'll be timing my recording projects from that computer anyway.

Thanks very much for your prompt reply,

Eddie

I've written about this half a dozen times: I'm in the same boat, I run several companies but I don't do any paperwork. However, I like to keep track of what each company invoices, always by quantities of different products. How can I set up Item 1; what's "Hardcode"
Many thanks

What AJ means by "hardcode" is to make a new template based off the one you normally use, and replace your company name and address with text specifically for one company. Make a template like this for each of your several companies, and then choose the corresponding template each time you send an invoice.

O.K I am no software developer but I am assuming Billings is using a database to store all the records... Am sure it's not as simple as this but would'nt it just be a matter of when adding a second company billings creates a second exact database as the default one? All the same database fields and such only the particular database lined to a specific company...

Don't assume things are that simple - they never are.
