I just glanced over the features and specs of Billings, so please forgive me if I've missed this functionality....but it strikes me that the tools are all there that it would be an obvious next step if Billings could turn inward and act as a time clock for one's Daylite users. We have 2 hourly employees and right now just use Punch-It - which is fine, but its 1 more database to maintain and another login/logout for the employees.
Possibly there could even be preferences to initiate a billing session upon log-in to Daylite itself for certain users. Just a thought. |

Hi all,
really gald to see the Billings is alive and kicking! I agree with Michell in that I hope you Marketcircle is working to fully integrate Billings with Daylite. To realise the real potential of Daylite, as a project management and CRM tool elsupremo, Marketcircle MUST 'close the loop'. Can you imagine the ideal where you can enter time in Billings against projects/clients and be able to view and manage that time/project to completion (using pipelines). Then be able to bill that time out against the completed project/client. ... and THEN ta da!! be able to use past bills/projects to prepare accurate quotes and win more work - a closed loop - fantastique. Bring it and make everyone's Christmas Looking forwrd to an even more productive New Year with the best tools for small business. cheers |

We've heard the chorus asking for full integration, and are working on providing an excellent solution, while maintaining Daylite and Billings as useful independent platforms for highly focused needs.
Thx, adam |

Please add my voice to the "chorus". I am getting sick of duplicated effort! My dollars are waiting, but can't wait for long...

Ditto from us. We're completely frustrated on how to get "true" time billings per 'our' parameters, get them invoiced and track the billings. We've tried QBP, MYOB, DL/Excel, etc etc etc. If Billings were linked to DL, I could probably trash 75% of the applications on my hard drive (especially the MS ones!!)

I've come up with a way to use Billings as an employee time clock, almost anyway. When the user arrives to work they log in to their computer and send a template email to a specific address. The "time clock" computer is the Daylite server and its running Daylite, Billings and Apple Mail. They are not running Billings on their own computer. The specific subject and body of the email trigger a rule in Mail which fires off an AppleScript that kicks off a Billings timer. It uses the name of the sender and the timestamp as the name of the slip. I say it "almost" works because stopping that slip is still manual because there's no stop command in Billings' AppleScript dictionary. So when the person is done for the day they call in the time and someone manually stops and links the slip. If they added stop and pause commands to the dictionary then full automation would be possible and Billings would have a whole new useful feature!
