We're interested in whether or not you quote to your clients. Do you use estimates in Billings, or do you send some other kind of quote (perhaps not from Billings)?

Question:
We're interested in whether or not you quote to your clients. Do you use estimates in Billings, or do you send some other kind of quote (perhaps not from Billings)?

Choices:
I use estimates in Billings
I send another kind of quote
I don't use estimates

i use the estimates in Billings however I usually need more room - when i am quoting a job - there are usually alot of conditions regarding changes and what I will provide for the client -
might be interesting to add a section you can type in all your conditions for the job

I should use the Estimates more often than I do. I'm slightly put off by the slightly hit and miss issues I have with combining hourly rates and daily rates, and having the date data being sent to a diary of some sort.

Use estimates in a way that it's (maybe) not meant to : use it as contractconfirmation window . Once the contract goes into execution, changing into "working" ...

We bought it for it's estimating abilities. Particularly the ability to customize estimate and invoice layouts.

We run a graphic design studio and don't use the estimates feature in Daylight or use Billings. The reason being is that our estimates are more like proposals and have quite lengthy descriptions of our services and the design stages. We also have a page at the end of our quotes for our terms and conditions.

I would love the estimates section in Daylight or Billings to handle this volume of information, along with a section where you can compare estimate costs v's real costs so you can see at a glance if you have made a profit or loss on a project.

We currently use the merge feature in Daylight to create our quotes, with the contact details of our client automatically appearing in the document. It is then automatically linked to the Opportunity.
This seems to work at the moment, but it is still quite time consuming and less than a perfect solution.

If anybody has managed to customise estimates in Daylight or Billings for the above purpose, maybe they would consider sharing their template in the Share Zone?

Thanks.

Because I don't use estimates, it would be great if there were a check box in the preferences to simply remove it from the interface.

I recently used it and found it helpful. What it was lacking was an optional overall comment area - I used the comment field in the estimate (Invoice) section, but each time I had to re-type it! I did use the comments on each line item, but other items applied to the estimate as a whole.
