I'm still suprised to see that there is not a Project No. system incorporated into Billings. Surely this a must have feature for any project tracking application. Our studio has over 1000 jobs in it's system all of which can be searched by a unique 5 digit no. I know you can enter a job code manually as an extra field, but couldn't MC just add an auto number feature in the same way that invoice numbering works.

Hi Darren,

I'll add this as feature request.

Thank you for your feedback.

Another vote for automatic client and project numbering. I'm missing this from Studiometry.

Leanda - how do you find Billings compares with Studiometry and can I ask why you changed over?

I currently use iBiz server as I have a studio of three designers so we need a networkable system that all users can access. I have been considering Studiometry as an alternative, but still not 100% sure. I think iBiz and Studiometry are currently the only multi-user options unless MC decided to release a multi version of Billings.

Another vote for auto job numbering...

This really is the only thing missing from Billings for me.

I registered for the forum just to add my vote … auto project numbering please!

I am thinking of migrating from iBiz to Billings and am using the trial. This — tracking specific projects — is one area where iBiz really shines.

Darren - I've been moving over to Billings from Studiometry in the last few weeks. I originally tried Billings about two years ago when it first released and opted for Studiometry as it's more design industry focused.

However, I've never been impressed by it's speed on the Mac, I've never been a fan of Mac apps written in Real Basic and it's invoice design and printing has always seemed a bit rough to me.

The biggest reason for us deciding to move is the Billings interface design and the speed in which we can do an estimate. I never really got my head around using reports in Studiometry for estimates.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the feedback. Being in the design business I was also attracted to Studiometry, but I have to agree about the Real basic thing as one of my issues with Studiometry is it's not very 'mac like'.

Currently using iBiz does work for me, but it has a few rough edges that need ironing out. Saying that it still offers a few features that Billings has yet to include. Billings Reporting and Invoice features are far superior though.

As it stands Billings has the most attractive interface, but I will be keeping an eye on it's development over the next few months to see if any of my feature requests are added.

Tell you what, I'd vote for automatic file or project numbering, that would really kick a$$, and help beyong just Billings, e.g., use on accounting software, use for in-office file numbering, use in WP.

I've been considering doing this manually (you know - a pad of paper where I just write down the next number) but isn't this the kind of thing computers are for?
