Billings 3 won't let me delete retainers unless I first remove any payments that have been made with that retainer. However, I can't seem to find an option to have Billings point me to the associated payments. Am I missing something?

There is no easy way to find out which payments are made from a retainer. You could simply arrow down through the account list and look at the receipt in the preview pane on the right to see which ones have a payment method of "Retainer".

One thing to understand is that there is no direct link between a specific payment and the retainer it came from. All of the retainers are pooled together to give the overall retainer balance. As long as deleting a retainer keeps that retainer from going below zero, it should not stop you.

So you don't have to find a specific payment that has to do with that retainer, you just need to find any payments at all that have a payment method of retainer.

How about an easy way to filter listings so I don't have to hunt through a long list of invoiced payments, unpaid invoices, etc.? I think that would make things much more user-friendly.

Thanks for the suggestion. It would be nice to be able to quickly find payments with unapplied amounts or unpaid invoices. We have been looking at something along those lines, but haven't yet found a solution we like.
