I am a HUGE fan of Daylite. I use it as my CRM and for managing dozens of Opportunities & Projects at a time.
My company (about 10 people) currently is primarily a PC-using company, but for no particular reason. I have bought Macs for my department (3 people) and have almost migrated everything that we do over to Mac, and Daylite has been a huge part of that. The final program that is really holding up the rest of the company from transitioning over to Mac is our invoicing/ordering program, the dreaded Peachtree. Everybody pretty much hates it, but the boss acts like he is hesitant to learn a new system. I think that a combination of Billings/Daylite could draw him over, EXCEPT for the fact that Billings doesn't appear to offer any sort of Ordering component. It seems like it's primarily for... well, Billing people. A huge part of what I do in a given day is sending out POs to my vendors for different products that go together to make the whole product that we offer- we design and sell displays for exhibitions and retail, so we will order the many different components from different vendors/manufacturers. I know about Daylite's ability to work with MoneyWorks, but that one just seems quirky enough that my boss wouldn't go for it (particularly the strange French Canadian wording like "cheques", etc). Also, I just love the idea of Daylite & Billings working so seamlessly together. I have been preaching to my boss for years about the idea of CRM, Project Management, & Ordering/Invoicing all being under the same roof, and I don't feel confident that Daylite + MoneyWorks would pull this off as well as everything being a Marketcircle creation. I also looked at Lightspeed, and I was very impressed, but it seems to be more set-up for a retail environment, focused on keeping things "in stock" as opposed to ordering custom items for very detailed products. Also, it appears to offer a lot more than we need it to at a much higher price (bells & whistles). So... does Billings handle Ordering in a way that I just don't know about yet? Is this something that will be added in the future? I would greatly appreciate any feedback! |

It just occurred to me that perhaps I am going down the wrong path altogether, as Billings seems to be best used as a single-user app. Is that correct?
