We have system of a four digit number for the client and then any projects we do also have four digit numbers. So each project will be assigned something like this 1049-1569 (client ID-Project ID).
We moved from Studiometry which assigned these automatically for us. Now in Billings we are constantly checking to make sure we don't duplicate the client ID or project code.
I was thinking this morning that one way to stop duplicate Project Codes would be to use a date for the number. So creating a new project today would have the code 031107.
Still, I find it a bit strange that software like Billings has this missing. It just needs to be handled in the same way as invoice numbering for Client ID and project codes. I don't have time to check each time if I've duplicated a number.
If Marketcircle could could just sort that out along with the ability to add multiple contacts to companies, this would be killer software.

I have that same gripe about a lot of areas of this app.
It is almost like MC doesn't want to make it too great, they want us begging for more.
Hey, MC, go ahead and make it great with some of the obvious stuff that is missing. We don't care if the price goes up. Mama ain't using it for her recipes, it is for people who are trying to run a business!
This is really something they have to sort out as soon as possible. Isn't it any way to auto copy Daylite's Organization ID to the Client Number in Billings? Or just auto generate another unique code? To be able to generate unique client ID's are extremely important for my (and every) business.
