I have 6 slips on an current project. The client ask me to send me an advance invoice of 30%.
How do i do that?
I cant find any solution on this issue.

Add a %70 discount to all slips, generate invoice with appropriate text indicating total is %30 of projected final invoice.

After sending invoice, delete the invoice in the activity tab of the project. When prompted, make the slips active again. Edit all slips to remove the %70 discount.

Federic, while Lon's method would work, it is not the most effective.

I too often find myself in need of requesting a deposit on a job prior to commencement. Here is the method I have used and it works great.

Setup your project along with all of the necessary Work Slips as you would normally do. Finally, enter a Work Slip called "Deposit" (or whatever you would like to call it) and select Flat Fee and enter the amount of the deposit you want.

Then select this last slip (it will be at the bottom of your slip list for that project) and Send it as an invoice per your normal method. By sending it out, the working slip no longer appears in your project slip list.

Now when you receive that deposit, I choose to track the payment by clicking on "Add Payment" and entering the date, amount, the check amount under the comments. *This is optional*

Finally, click on "Retainer" and enter the deposit amount for a retainer.

When you are ready to bill out the whole job/project, you would gather all of your working slips and send to invoice. You will see an check box to include the retainer (which is the amount of your deposit). When you preview the invoice, you will see a line item in your invoice crediting them with the Retainer amount. This is how I am able to send them an invoice after the fact that is minus the deposit amount.

What I like about this process is that I don't have to go in and adjust the amount with either percentages back and forth in the working slips. Simply make a slip for the deposit, credit the amount in retainer, and have the retainer figured into the final invoice.

Voila!

Hmmm? But wouldn't you still have an unpaid balance from that first invoice by applying the deposit received, based on that first invoice, as a retainer... rather than applying it towards the "deposit" invoice?

Thank you for the advice. That is the same method i use for advance fees. The retainer is good tip. I can use this.
