We are 2 designers trying to figure out how to manage a unified list of slips where while i work in one, he works in another, and once the job is done, the state of those slips (timed, or completed) are updated in the list. Anyone knows how to?

Currently Billings is not a multi-user application. Short of sending exported slips back and forth (you can do this from File > Export Slip) there are not many options for sharing at the moment. Manually doing it is also prone to human error. Do you guys happen to be using Daylite? If so, it can make this a bit easier. But at the end of the day, Billings is best to be run on a single centralized machine.

Currently, I'm with a tryal of bilings, and making up my mind about buying it. What you suggest i sto buy Daylight also, or export slips and open it in the other computer. But to do so, shouldn't I also get a license for the other computer?
Thanks a lot

Dear All

I'd like to pick up this conversation with a question. We currently have four Daylite licenses in my business. I love it and find it a brilliant tool. I'm now interested to see if Billings can help with time management for my employees. Can anyone tell me how, and this was touched upon earlier, this can be done with multiple users please? I'm really hoping that I can import and amalgamate the time sheets together for different employees at different rates.

Many thanks

Matt

I have not tried this yet so you should consider them ideas:

1) Setup a Leopard OSX Server and share the program amongst clients. This is actually what a server should do. However, not sure how Billings would deal with simultaneous users even on the server.

2) Use a synchronization program to sync the database at the end of the day. Set the time for synchronization to be serial amongst users.

3) Use Apple Remote Desktop to gain access to the one machine with the

4) Use Leopard's built in screen sharing capabilities: /System/Library/CoreServices/Screen Sharing.app
There are some suggestions on line to modify Leopard's screen sharing to behave more like Remote Desktop.
Not sure how this would work with multiple users trying to gain access simultaneously.

Hi all,

Unfortunately, Billings is geared towards the single user installation. Therefore, all Billings work done is stored on the computer that the work is being done. There is no way, at this point in time to set them up on multiple machines and keep them synced (like Daylite). However, there is a workaround until this feature has been implemented.

1) You can install Billings on multiple machines and each user can individual track their time on their own respective machine. When its time to invoice, they can send (export) their slips/projects to a main Billings machine, which can be responsible for all the invoicing and payments.

Thanks!

Thanks for letting us know. Roll on the development programme !! If I import other user's data for the same project, is this imported information identifiable for that particular user it's been imported from?

Thanks

Matt
