I'm new to Billings; we are currently using DesignSoft at our company, but it only runs on OS9, and we need to find something more up-to-date. I thought Billings looked promising, but I can't figure out a couple of things:
1. Can I simply input time spent on a project manually, instead of using the Timer function? I multi-task a lot, and it would take a lot of effort to manage the timers; instead, I just estimate the time spent on any particular project and record it on my time sheet, then input it into the billing software once a week.
2. Can I set up different billing rates for different tasks? For example, my billing rate for production might be $100/hr, and for photo retouch or computer illustration - $150/hr. Is there a way to keep track of varying billing rates?
Double-click on the task and it'll pop up a windows with details for that task. You can set the rate there, and if you click "Log" you can add more time manually in the window that will pop up.
You manually add time by double clicking on a working slip and then clicking on the duration counter. That will give you a popup where you can add time.
The different billing rates can be handled by creating working slip blueprints. I do web design, web development, graphic design, mixing, mastering, hosting, tech support, etc. so I've created a blueprint for each one that I use when I start a working slip for a project.
