Is there some way to do this? One client sends multiple projects and one retainer to cover the whole mess. Is there some way to have the retainer credited to the client (and not to individual projects), but when billing and paying from retainer on multiple projects, not have to create a fake retainer amount for each project and pay from it every month?

Currently retainers are applied per project and not per client.

Though we have received some feedback and are reevaluating this process.

Billings 3 now handles retainers on a per client basis, so you can apply part of the retainer to different projects within that client.
