I like marketcircle, and am trying to figure out if we could use Billings at our company, but can't figure out what use it is to send good looking invoices if they just have to be typed again into our accounting program? (Quickbooks)
Are billings customers just retyping the invoices into their accounting packages? Or is it supposed to be a greatly-simplified accounting package? I don't care for Intuit, and would switch in a minute of the feature set could be any where close. Unfortunately, the Quickbooks features of importing bank transactions and automatic payroll have me hooked. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Michael Czeiszperger | http://www.webperformance.com Web Performance Inc. | (1) 919-845-7601 x1761 Website Load Testing and Stress Testing Software & Services ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |

I am confused about this as well, and don't really understand the purpose of an application like Billings. So I'd also be interested in hearing how and why people are using Billings.
Are you using it in conjunction with a full accounting application like Quickbooks or Moneyworks, and re-entering your invoices there? Or are you just using Billings for invoices and letting an accountant worry about everything else? Thanks, Andrew |

I first looked at Billings because of the time tracking feature. My day consists of swapping between multiple jobs. Keeping track of the time I was spending on each was a nightmare. Billings has solved this for me and also produces nice looking invoices. My accounting is fairly basic and I get by with spreadsheets and a great accountant.
There are some features such as statements and more powerful reporting which would go a long way to making this a more complete solution for my needs, and these have been promised . . . . . . still waiting. Great for a small company like mine that doesn't have employees and fancy accounting requirements. Couldn't do without it. |

Yes, a statement feature....I also use Quickbooks and wish it worked together. I am using it for nice looking invoices but I do have to put the info into Quickbooks also. I want something to create nice invoices and estimates and then be able to have a statement per client. Can't believe there isn't a statement with this program.

I am in limbo with this decision - Quickbooks will release a new version for the Mac this fall - so don't buy now! Anyway, with my current (very small) company, I think I have to count on a spreadsheet (ugh) and hand it over to my accountant too. The timing features is what I initially got Billings for. I stumble over trying to get reports the way I need them to help assist in other accounting features but I canNOT figure out the customization of the reports - it is learning a new language/app.

You mean there isn't a statement feature?!? In an invoicing programme?!?
I'm really looking for an all in one solution for a small company (mostly me, but with occasional freelancers who I would need to quickly train on the system) Currently I create invoices in Word (on Mac), use iCal and Address Book synced to Contacts and Calendar on Windows Mobile via missing sync, which mostly works. I work on a cash accounting basis so If I could download and annotate my bank statements, I could use this as the basis of my accounts and probably save a lot of money I'm currently spending on my accountant. |

Dear All
I use MYOB accounting software in my business. Can anyone tell me if I can import my Billings data into MYOB? Thanks Matt |

I too would LOVE for Billings to evolve into an accounting system as it's a lot of double work at this point and I'm wondering if I should just purchase Moneyworks?) but I do like the way Billings does estimates and invoicing and keeps track of ongoing small tasks, putting them all on one invoice...and the timing freature. However, the accounting issue is pivotal.
