A couple of questions about retainers.
1. Is there any way to show a retainer payment on an invoice so that the client does not pay it twice? 2. In addition to the above, if I have an invoice that exceeds the retainer, the retainer would partially pay the invoice and I would then need to send the invoice to the client showing the partial balance. Can either of these be accomplished currently? Marcus S. Zarra Zarra Studios LLC www.zarrastudios.com Simply Elegant Software for OS X |

Hi Marcus
We added the ability to easily use the retainer on an invoice in the latest beta. When you're making an invoice, simply check "Apply retainer," which will indicate how much of the retainer will be used (Billings tries to use as much of the retainer as possible). The invoice will automatically show the amount of the retainer that has been used, before showing the balance due. You can change the name of the line item that indicates the prepayment, in Invoice & Estimate Preferences. HTH, adam |

Adam,
The retainer never gets shown on my template. It does on the default templates that come with Billings 2. What should I add to the template and where? Thanks. |

I too am unable to access the amount of the applied retainer when building custom invoice templates. When I use my custom invoice template, whether the retainer is applied or not to the invoice, the value of the applied retainer always comes back as zero. Has anyone been able to access that value properly?
Thanks. |
