Hi,
I'm interested in writting a module to integrate with microsoft excahnge. I will start out with calendar integraiton and move to tasks and address books. I have a few questions... I know how to do the exchange integration portion, my question is how to best accomplish this with daylite. So to the questions: 1) I see the developers kit provides documentation on the data model for daylite. How do I access the database? 2) I'm thinking that I would have an "application" that will sync information between daylite and exchange. Is this the best way to do this? 3) Which is the best API to use for this? Access the database directly? Use Distributed Objects? Write a plugin? Any help would be appreciated. -LeoD |

Hello Leo.
I moved your topic to the Plugin Forum because I think that is more appropriate. The avenue I would investigate is using our Distributed Object (DO) API to access the Daylite data. To give you an example of what can be done with this API, DMI, our mail integration, is done using our DO API. If you did want to create an application that will be responsible for performing the sync, then you would connect to Daylite through the DO API. In the Daylite Developer Kit look at the Daylite 3 Public Developer Kit.pdf document on page 22. It explains how to connect to Daylite and transfer objects back and forth. Also in the Daylite Developer Kit, in the Distributed Objects folder there is a test Xcode project called DayLiteRemoteTest. Take a look at this example, it will show how to get data out of Daylite over the DO API. I hope this helps. If you have more questions post them on the forums! Michael. |

Hey, maybe as an alternative or additional solution, you could work on syncing Entourage with Daylite. Since Entourage can be used as an Exchange client, and is now compatible with Apple's Sync Services, maybe it's an easier way for you to get to Exchange data.

I thought about syncing with entourage... One of the key feature I'm interested in is accessing the free/busy feature for scheduling meetings...

Leo -
I am really interested in this plugin. Have you had any success with it yet? I use entourage/exchange and the daylite calendar is the one feature i can't use efficiently. thanks. John John Mitchell |

I think integration with Exchange is a fantastic idea. But this is really key functionality that MarketCircle should work on themselves. Can someone from M.C. speak to the issue? Are they planning such support?

I hope there will be some information about this at Macworld 07.
I currently use Entourage for my business email and Mail for my personal email. For my business purposes, Entourage provides more options, and therefore I do not want to use Mail for this function. This precludes me from looking at the Daylite app much further, however. Aaron Edit: More clearly, I probably need mail integration with Entourage more than I need full syncing, which may be another topic. |
