I am an ACT! user for 10 years, this DL template editor is too complicated for me! The posts I am reading and the instructions from the manual do not match the prompts in the pull downs that I am seeing in version 3.2.1. Is there a simple way to do this merge? I have created a form which gives 8 items referring to a guest reservation, number of guests, unit #, dates that I would like to merge with a letter (or report?)template. Help! In ACT! I could set it up in 5 minutes. Where is the glossary for all of the developer terms you are using? A complete user manual?

will give you lots of information on this. It's a bit complicated, but once you get the hang of it, it's not too bad. The trick is pointing to where the data of the form is hiding. I can't remember where I found it now, I don't do enough of this, but I'm sure someone will post here that knows more than I. It's a great community and the answer will come. |

Here's a thread with some info on merging form data into letter templates (not "reports" or "print layouts" which I haven't gotten deeply enough into to figure out getting form data in)...

I, myself, have just started inputting my "owners" into my new DL database and wanted to be able to run various reports; owners by sale date, upgrade reports, number of owners, etc. However, when I went to create a report, it was SO complicated that I have given up on the several occasions I've tried to do it. I, too, have watched the movies and they don't display the same fields or windows as I have on my program. Neither do the manuals give good step by step instructions or examples for reports. The reports feature is why I settled on DL from all the others I'd reviewed! I guess I just assumed that the feature would be user friendly. Any input here would be very appreciated. I am believing that once I get the initial gist of it, it will be a piece of cake. So, is there anywhere that has simple instructions on how to create a report that queries the database and only pulls certain data to display?
