When configuring MobileMe, it is very important you replace all sync info on MobileMe with sync info from "this computer". Users who have configured MobileMe this way have not experienced a change in Sync.
When you replace all sync info on this computer with sync info from MobileMe, users are experiencing difficulty syncing as this option changes the synchronization process. We are looking into this issue but at this point, there is no other information available. Again, it is always recommended you have up-to-date backups of your data as you are introducing a new element to your environment. This message has been edited. Dear James
Since I found your – quite well hidden – alert too late: Is there at least a forecast about the timeframe needed to offer a fix? Guess quite a lot of other people heavily depend on functioning synch services Pat |

Hey Pat,
At this point, we are still working on a solution for those users. I will update this thread as soon as the information becomes available. ______________________________________ James Spencer Marketcircle Sales jspencer@marketcircle.com phone: +1 (888) 287-9186 option 1 fax: +1 (905) 248-3101 ======================= |

Can you tell me how to do this specifically?
I look in MobileMe set up and there is no option to "sync with this computer" - where do I specifically go to set up things this way? Thanks - David PS - looks like DayliteTouch has been delayed till early 2009 - but my question is will it provide a similar service to MobileMe? |

Hey Guys,
So assuming your account has already been created, this option is available in your system preferences under Mobile Me. In the sync preferences for Mobile Me, in Advanced, you can reset your sync data. It asks you if you want to replace all sync info on Mobile Me with sync info from "this computer" or replace all sync info on this computer with sync info from Mobile Me. For users who already selected replace all sync info on this computer with sync info from Mobile Me, this has not been tested but based on what I have read on the preferences, resetting the sync data and applying the correct settings should re-establish the sync. As for Daylite Touch, there is no current update on the feature set for Touch. For up to date information, please sign up on the Daylite Touch Page. ______________________________________ James Spencer Marketcircle Sales jspencer@marketcircle.com phone: +1 (888) 287-9186 option 1 fax: +1 (905) 248-3101 ======================= |

If I replace the sync information on the phone with info from "this computer" everytime I sync, then won't I overwrite any changes made in the field on the phone between syncs?

I am interested in an answer to this question as well. |

Yes but changes you make in the field from your phone will be added to your data cloud (MobileMe) and then on to the computer. In this way the data stays synchronised together.
e.g if I add an appointment on my phone it is usually in Daylite within minuted via mobileMe. The data is on the computer then. The problem with replacing data on your computer with data from MobileME is that if you delete a contact in AB on your computer, MobileMe will then put it back again. If you replace data on MobileMe with data on your computer then this should not happen. It works very well once set up but the direction of data flow is important certainly if you had data on MobilME in the first place. Not such an issue if your AB and MobileMe are blank at the beginning of the process. I favour the method referred to some time ago by another contributer - "the nuke and pave" approach. Basically get your contacts out of AB into Daylite and iCal by import and then delete the contents of AB and iCal (making sure the direction is overwrite data on MobileMe). Then turn on synchronising and start to synchronise a few contacts at a time by putting them in the sync list. Satisfy yourself that it is working as expected and the do the rest. I would also recommend using the "Daylite Group" especially if you have other data in AB. But not essential. My comments at least - they may be helpful? |
