Mike/AJ: That sounds great. Will we have access to all tasks in any category or only those linked to projects and opportunities?

The absence of Apple's direct support for tasks on the iPhone is very disappointing.

Thank you for your hard work on Daylite Touch!

Hello Chris.

All I can say for now is that we find it very frustrating that Apple left tasks out as well.

More details about specifics will be coming down the road.

Michael.

Michael, through MC's connections with Apple, do you have specific reason to believe that Apple will be including task (and note) sync in the near or not-too-distant future? Have they said as much?

That is not something they would share with us unfortunately.
Even with developer they are tight lipped.

Michael, I am a solo Daylite user in a Windows environment. I use a MacBook Pro and take it with me when I go home - no constant Internet connection. Will I be able to use Daylite Touch/Server in my scenario? I really hope so! There are probably many others in a similar situation. Thanks!

Hi Chris.

Yes, you will still be able to use it. You won't get (or need) the constant over the air syncing that you get with a dedicated server, but you will be able to sync between Daylite Touch and you laptop when together on a wifi network.

So.. would a daylite app... have to sync on the iPhone with the iPHone's local calendar and address book? So that other iPhone apps can access that information?

Hello Tony.

It is too early to discuss details like this, yet.
More information will be coming out in the future about specifics.

Well right now, my palm syncing tasks back to Daylite, tends to cause regular iSync conflicts in Daylite. I have tasks syncing to iCal and Palm turned off right now.

So Daylite still has some issues with devices syncing modified contacts/tasks/events back to Daylite.

Not a thing happens to them...the issue is on the iPhone, which doesn't have a Tasks module. So while your Tasks will sync happily over to iCal, there is currently not a way for your iPhone to get the Tasks since it has nowhere to put them. And the iPhone's calendar doesn't support categories so while you will get iCal calendars that correspond happily with your Daylite appointment categories, the category/calendar distinctions don't appear on the iPhone.

I love love love my iPhone and if it support Tasks it would be perfect.

Hope this helps,
Cynthia

OmniFocus is a ridiculously easy application, when compared to the depth of Daylite.

Rest assured, we are working night and day to get Daylite Touch completed. We want it as bad as the rest of you!

jeeze David H - can you please let the Marketcircle team get on with the job and stop harassing them. We have been told there will be iPhone support, that it is a bit job and it won't be released until later in the year.

Obviously iPhone support is a major must do for the developers so they are working to get this out as fast as they can.

I am sure it will be worth the wait so respectively how about a little peace, quiet and consideration for the workers? smile

Hey - I have a question about the way this thing works...and not because of the DayliteTouch App (per se).

I love Daylite, and my law firm uses it. However, as we grow we are running into a huge problem. We have offices in Seattle & New Orleans, and the "Online/Offline Sync" options, as well as the "Work Online" features are coming close to "not cutting it."

So, if Daylite is introducing some type of "server" sync with the Daylite Touch....

Will it also work to sync between machines...say in two offices? To eliminate this offline/online sync that seems to get messy at times??

Scott!

Hello Micheal,

Will Daylite touch and Daylite touch server provide PUSH data to the iPhone?
Also can you please give me some more clarifications about sync?

Scenario 1:

Several macs use Daylite for contacts and calendars and they DO NOT use Address Book.app or iCal nor they use Sync Services.
The iPhone 3G with Daylite touch on it will be able to use the daylite database as its address book database?
In this scenario the iPhone user will have to use Daylite touch instead of the Calendar and Contacts bundled iphone apps? As you know this is a crucial thing for example in the phone application.

Scenario 2:

Like scenario 1 but users need to access information on the web so they want to use mobileme, on the mac they need to use Sync Services I guess? The iphone users will get contacts and calendars pushed via mobile me and use Daylite touch at the same time.
As I suggested some time ago the ideal thing here would be for Marketcircle to develop a web frontend for daylite because when you punt Sync Services in the reliability of your data drops tremendously, custom fields lost, etc. as you know.
